About

When I finish something big, I immediately move on to something else. My life is rarely still. I went to high school because I was supposed to. I couldn’t not go to college, so I went to Washington State University. I hated it; then I loved it. I was done with something big, so I decided to do something else: go to graduate school.

Six years after moving to Pullman, Washington, home of the Cougars, I had a B.A. in Digital Technology and Culture, a couple of minors, and an M.A. in English. It was finally time to leave, but I still needed something new; something big to throw my energies into.

A couple of years ago, I started thinking about teaching English in Korea as a way to make some money. Friends assured me that with my M.A., I’d be a shoe-in. I started reading about Korea, looking into teaching there, and talking to people about the prospect.

I ended up taking a job in Seoul, after quite a lot of research, interviews, and stress. I’m now living in Seoul, writing textbooks, editing the same, and teaching when needed. I’m trying to travel as much as possible, learn Korean, and stay sane, all at once. I’m doing a decent job of all of that, and this is where I record it.

    Nice job, Tony.
I’m off to Europe tomorrow (5/27) for 5 weeks! Will connect with D & P for a week in Sardegna and have signed up for a week of immersion Italian. You’ll have to tell me how you fare learning Korean.
    A dopo,
    Chuck
